KIDS HELPING KIDS

FLYING BOOTS

Hi my name is Sophie and I'm going to tell you how my class 4R decided to help an organisation in need. Everyone thought of ideas and we voted. We decided to raise money for meningococcal. We all thought of an Activity and we also voted and we came up with a Gumboot throw. Next we decided to organize what day the Gumboot throw would be on, next we decided the Gumboot throw was going to be at lunch time one the oval on Friday the 12 th September 2003. Then we worked out the grade levels and how many prizes we would need. Next we decided all the Helpers we would need. Thomas and Al collected the money and James and I wrote down how many turns the people could have. We used hoops and cones. We made poster and Mrs. Elshout put them up at lunch time. The next day Mrs. Elshout made an announcement at Jump Rope for Heart. When it was Friday at lunch time Jessica and Amelia made an announcement over the loud speaker. Everybody or nearly everybody ran to the oval with 10c, 20c, 30, 40c or 50cents. It was a BIG SUCCESS we ended up raising $22.30. WOW! There was a big line of people, the helpers got dusty hands and hit with a boot. Everybody had a go and tried to do their best. Thank you to everyone who had a go and helped raise money for meningococcal.

THE BIG SUCCESS

4r Decided to help an organisation first we voted on what organisation we would help, so we put in our ideas. The organisation we voted on was meningococcal. Then we voted on the activity, so we put in our ideas. The activity we voted on was the gumboot throw. We decided on the day and time. We decided that the day was Friday 12 th September and the time at lunchtime on the oval. The cost was 10cents a throw. There were prizes for Grades Prep/1, 2/3, and 4's. We had some helpers and I was one of them. We used cones, poles, hoops and GUMBOOTS. 4R made posters to advertise and Mrs. Elshout made an announcement at jump rope for heart on Thursday and on Friday lunchtime. We go setup and started and there was a long line of people. We had to watch for “flying gumboots”. Most of us got dirty and Alex and James writing hands got sore. Everyone tried their best and we helped meningococcal. It worked out and we raised $22 and 30 cents.
